HIGH GROWTH
•In a trial with lambs from lambing to weaning ad lib on new pasture.
•At weaning 14 weeks:
– Singles Av 55kg 510 gms/day.
– Twins Av 45kg: 418 gms/day.
– Triplets Av 40kg: 375gms/day
(top 1%).
High Facial Eczema Tolerance
•Using FE Gold Sires (mainly from ARDG) .68 to .7 dose rates.
•Homebred Sires tested at .62 with no change in GGT levels.
•Highest FE Tolerant Sire has DPX 3641.
•All rams sold have DPX above 1000 (range 1000 to 3000).
We have been using FE tolerant sires since 2007 and have developed a sub-flock of 1000 ewes with a focus on FE tolerance.
•Note DPX only measures the response and not the testing level, so important to ask breeder what their progeny of FE Tolerant sires are tested at.
•Ours are at .62.
•Mixed with the incredible work the ARDG has done on FE tolerance we have added our own traits of growth rates, survival, constitution and structural soundness.
